It's been 5 years since I was invited to create a Master Art Plan for the city of Chico's Manzanita Corridor Reconstruction Project. I offered an overall theme, Weave of Nature/Web of Life, which was adopted to inform all artworks within the Manzanita Corridor.
The bridge railing was the element that we chose as the first project.

And now, Jeff Lindsay of Red Hot Metal, Inc., has started the fabrication! In June, I went up to meet with Jeff to discuss fabrication details. I really enjoyed meeting Jeff and visiting his shop in Chico. I also met with Mary Gardner, the public art coordinator, and Craig Murray, the engineer assigned to the project. We took a look at the first metal cuts that Jeff had in the studio. We also made a site visit to choose the color for the railng - a rusty red- which will be powdercoated.
